What is cork fabric?

Cork fabric comes from the bark of the cork oak tree; very thin cork sheets are glued to a fabric backing.  Mama Leopard sources high quality, handcrafted, PETA-approved Portuguese cork fabric. We also work with cork fabric scraps kindly given to us by Two Dogs & Co.

Is cork eco-friendly?

Yes! Cork is one of the best alternatives to leather and plastic.  No cork trees trees are cut down during harvesting because the bark regenerates - and by doing so it absorbs 3-5 more CO2 than non-harvested trees. 

I have sensitive ears; can I wear your earrings?

Yes! All our ear wires, studs and butterfly backs are '925' stamped Sterling Silver.  Our studs are made with 100% recycled silver. 

​Cork is also hypoallergenic: it doesn't absorb dust - perfect for people with sensitive ears, allergies or asthma.

How do you add the finishing touches to your creations?

I use non-toxic water-based metallic pens to add hand-drawn details, as well as sparkly fabric off-cuts and sequin scraps - from a fashion designers leftovers.

Where are your suppliers based?

​​All our suppliers are UK-based, except for our Portuguese cork.​
